THE PRINCIPLES OF COLOUR - 3HRS - BOURNEMOUTH - Friday 3rd October 2025 10am- 1pm

Understanding how colours work in art is a vital part of the painting process. Colour mixing is a skill which develops over time but the rewards can be priceless.

Mixing colours correctly and understanding how to use them can add great depth to a painting. Have you painted a scene and found that it looks flat and has little depth or perspective? It's probable that understanding some principles about colour will improve your results. 

This workshop will help you think about your colour choices and may surprise you with how simply you can achieve depth in your painting.

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE: 

• Mixing a variety of colours from a basic pallette
• Understanding the role of black & white
• Warm & cool colours and how to use them
• Creating drama with just two colours
• Painting a basic landscape using these principles 

The maximum capacity of workshops is four people so you can be assured of a relaxed session with plenty of individual attention if required.

The workshop will be held in my Bournemouth studio, 3 Shirley Road BH9 1SL.

Toilet facilities are available.

Unfortunately there is no disabled access to my studio.

Refreshments will be provided.

Please bring clothing protection and something to transport your painting home such as a plastic sheet or shallow box.
