Seascape Oil Painting Course Bournemouth

16-hour course with Michael Hemming

About this course

Some paintings are created in a single session using a method called alla prima or wet-on-wet, famously used by the Impressionists. Many of Michael's one-day workshops use this approach.

This seascape workshop takes a different approach. Spread over four weekly sessions (4 hours each, 16 hours total), you’ll learn a slower, step-by-step process that helps you build depth and character in your painting — even if you’re new to oil painting.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a finished oil painting around 60cm x 40cm to take home.

About Michael's Workshops & Courses

Michael Hemming is a UK-based artist known for his expressive sea, land and sky paintings where he uses abstract and semi abstract techniques. His workshops focus on process over perfection, helping artists work intuitively and develop their own visual style rather than just copying.

Michael has developed his unique style over many years of experimentation and by building a knowledge base of pigments, colour mixing and expressive mark making. He enjoys being able to share his enthusiasm for painting in his workshops which are held in his Bournemouth studio. He also visits art groups across several counties where he is invited to share his knowledge.
